Skills & example prompts
The SAP Operation Monitoring Assistant has nine skills. You don't choose one: just ask, and the assistant works out which skill your question needs. Every prompt below can be pasted into Joule as it is; swap in your own message IDs, interfaces, partners and business objects.
| Skill | Ask it to |
|---|---|
| Error resolution proposal | Explain why a message failed and how to fix it |
| Interface monitoring | List errors, show health and statistics, explain AIF terms |
| Interface knowledge | Find the interfaces for a business topic and show their configuration |
| System landscape questions | Answer questions about partners, message types and message flows |
| Interface overview presentation | Prepare a PowerPoint or PDF about your interfaces |
| System landscape document | Prepare a PowerPoint or PDF of your integration landscape |
| Message restart | Restart one failed message, after your approval |
| Message cancel | Cancel one failed message for good, after your reason and approval |
| Known solutions | Reuse fixes that worked before, and find them |
Error resolution proposal
The main skill. The assistant finds the failed message by its ID, from an error list or by the business object it belongs to (sales order, purchase order, supplier invoice, customer, supplier, business partner, IDoc, accounting document). It reads the error log and the payload, checks the interface's configuration and other messages with the same error, and, when they are connected, follows the message through the system landscape, SAP Integration Suite and your runbooks. With known solutions on, it first checks whether a fix already worked for the same error.
You get a proposal in a fixed format: a verdict, a confidence level, the evidence, the root cause, numbered resolution steps, and whether a restart is safe. See the flow step by step, as a diagram, in How error resolution works.
- "Resolve message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D"
- "We have an error in sales order 122344 - what is the root cause?"
- "Why did the last ZSD/ORDERS message fail and how do I fix it?"
- "How do I fix the INVOIC errors from this week?"
- "Resolve message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D - I think the material master is missing" (your observation, which the assistant checks against the evidence)
Interface monitoring
Error lists for a period, an interface or a business object; statistics and health checks; the interfaces being monitored; a message's log and payload; and plain explanations of AIF terms. In Joule, a health or statistics answer also shows a chart of the errors per interface over time. In Joule, every row of an error list has its buttons: Resolve, Log, and, when they are turned on, Restart and Cancel. The list of monitored interfaces has Show errors per interface, which asks for the period.
Today. "What have we got today?" (also "What happened today?") answers with today's AIF errors: how many, in how many interfaces, the interfaces with the most errors and their most frequent error, the list of today's errors, and how many errors from earlier days are still there. A greeting on its own, such as "Hello Operation Monitoring", is answered with a short briefing and what you can check next. "Today" starts at midnight in the briefing time zone.
- "Hello Operation Monitoring, what have we got today?"
- "Show AIF errors before today"
- "Show AIF errors from 2026"
- "Show errors for supplier 10300001"
- "Health check for all interfaces in 2026"
- "Which interfaces are monitored?"
- "What is an AIF value mapping?"
Interface knowledge
Which interfaces exist for a business topic, and how each one is configured: direction and technology, key fields, mappings, value mappings, checks, actions, who is notified about errors, and its health over the last 30 days.
- "Do we have a business partner interface and how is it configured?"
- "How is ZSD/ORDERS configured?"
- "Do you have any interface for inbound delivery?"
System landscape questions
Answers from the confirmed integration landscape of your systems: which partners and message types exist, how a partner is set up, where its messages go, IDoc volumes and failures, and how current the landscape is. Every answer names the snapshot date it relies on.
- "Do we have interfaces with partner 10100001?"
- "Which partners receive ORDERS?"
- "Where does ORDRSP for 10100001 go after S/4?"
- "Which IDocs of supplier 10300007 fail?"
- "How is partner 10300007 set up?"
- "How current is the landscape?"
Interface overview presentation
A presentation about your AIF and EDI interfaces for a period, as PowerPoint or PDF, optionally narrowed to a business topic such as sales orders or supplier invoices. It covers health, interfaces at risk, top errors and their owners, root causes, partners and next steps.
Say everything in one message, or start with "prepare a presentation" and the assistant asks only for what is missing (which overview, which period, which format), one question at a time. The answer is a short summary and a download link.
- "Prepare a presentation about our system interfaces"
- "AIF overview for last month as PowerPoint"
- "EDI overview for 2026 as PDF"
- "EDI overview of the sales order interfaces for 2026 as PDF"
System landscape document
A document of your integration landscape, as PowerPoint or PDF, for the categories you choose: IDoc and EDI, ALE, RFC, web services, SAP Integration Suite, AIF interfaces and more. It shows coverage and gaps, flow diagrams, a summary per category and the top partners, with a technical appendix on request.
- "Give me the system landscape as PDF"
- "Landscape document of our EDI and web services as PowerPoint"
Message restart (with approval)
When an administrator has turned restarts on, the assistant restarts one failed AIF message after your explicit approval, and reports the result: straight away for a quick job, or a little later in the same Joule chat.
- "Restart message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D"
- "Restart #2" (row 2 of the last error list)
- "Restart it" (the message you are looking at)
- "Status of the restart"
Nothing restarts without your "yes"
Before every restart the assistant names the message, its interface, its status and its error, and asks. Only a clear "yes" right after that question starts the restart; any other reply cancels it, and the question expires after 15 minutes. Restarts are off until an administrator turns them on in the settings.
Message cancel (with a reason and approval)
When an administrator has turned cancelling on, the assistant cancels one failed AIF message for good: AIF does not process it any more (status C). It first asks why (Duplicate message, Corrected manually in SAP, No longer needed, Sent by mistake, Test message, or a reason you type), then asks for your approval. AIF cancels at once, so the result comes in the same answer. See the steps in Cancelling a message.
- "Cancel message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D"
- "Cancel #2" (row 2 of the last error list)
- "Cancel it" (the message you are looking at)
A cancel is final
To process a cancelled message later, the sender must send it again. Only a "yes" right after the approval question cancels, and only that message; each question expires after 15 minutes. Cancelling is off until an administrator turns it on in the settings.
Known solutions
When an administrator has turned them on, the assistant reuses fixes that already worked. A proven fix for the same error is answered at once, without a new analysis; fixes of similar errors are offered with the analysis. After a restart that succeeded, or when you say "this fixed it", it asks "Did these steps fix it?" and stores your answer. See Known solutions.
- "Known solutions for VG/203"
- "Known solutions for ZSD/ORDERS"
- "Known solutions for message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D"
- "Known solutions for ORDERS05"
- "Show known solution 2"
- "This fixed it"
- "Analyse message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D anyway"
- "Does not fit message 005056BF1EE259D16707A4B848200E6D"
Follow-up questions
The assistant remembers the conversation, so you can refer to what it just showed you:
| You ask | What it does |
|---|---|
| "and the errors of the first one?" | Lists the errors of the first interface in its last answer |
| "resolve #2" | Resolves message 2 of the last error list |
| "how are they configured?" | Shows the configuration of the interfaces it just listed |
| "generate a report from these interfaces" | Prepares the presentation for exactly those interfaces |
| "the same report for 2025", "again as PDF" | Rebuilds the last presentation with that one change |
| "cancel #2" | Cancels message 2 of the last error list, after the reason and your approval |
| "show known solution 2" | Opens the second known solution it just listed or offered |
| "this fixed it" | Asks whether the steps it proposed fixed the message, and stores your answer |
The memory belongs to the conversation. Start a new chat to start fresh.
What it does not do
- Questions outside SAP operations. The assistant answers SAP interface monitoring and operations questions only, and declines the rest.
- Guess at sources it cannot reach. If the landscape, Integration Suite or runbooks are not connected, the answer says so under Limitations.
- Change data on its own. A restart or a cancel of one message, after your approval, are the only actions it takes in SAP.
