An agent is only as good as what it knows. We build MCP servers that ground models in live SAP data - with your authorisations, your audit trail, and no second copy of your business.
A bespoke connector binds one model to one system. MCP is an open standard, so the same server serves Joule, your own agents, and whatever model you move to next year. That matters in SAP, where the platform is moving quickly and the integration you write today should outlive the model you wrote it for.
It also forces a useful discipline. Designing tools makes you decide, explicitly, what an agent may read and what it may change - which is the same conversation your security team wants to have anyway.
We start from one process and the handful of tools it genuinely needs, rather than exposing an entire OData catalogue and hoping the model picks well. A narrow, well-described tool set is both safer and measurably more accurate.
Every server ships instrumented with Boidra Platform, so tool calls, latency and cost are visible from the first day. The servers we build are the same ones our SAP agents run on - see also our guide to SAP Joule.
Model Context Protocol is an open standard for giving a model tools and data. An MCP server for SAP exposes a defined set of reads and actions - an OData entity set, a BAPI, a CDS view - as tools a model can call. The model asks; the server decides what it is actually allowed to do.
No. The server queries your system at call time, so answers reflect what SAP says right now. Retrieval over documents still has its place, but transactional questions should be answered from the transactional system, not from a snapshot that drifts.
Calls run under a real principal, not a shared service account, so SAP authorisation objects still apply. A user who cannot see a company code in the GUI cannot see it through the agent either. Every call is traced, so you can show an auditor who asked what.
Yes. We reach on-premise and private-cloud systems through SAP BTP Destinations and the Cloud Connector, so the server runs in your BTP account and no inbound hole is opened in your network.
Tell us what you’re trying to automate in SAP. We’ll tell you - honestly - whether an agent is the right tool, and how we’d start.
